Horoka Signal Base, Signal base and staff halt in Shimukappu, Hokkaido, Japan
Horoka Signal Base is a railway facility in Shimukappu that serves two roles: managing train signals and providing a designated stop for railway staff. The installation monitors traffic on the Sekisho Line and gives personnel a place to rest during their shifts.
The facility opened on October 1, 1981, marking an important expansion of railway infrastructure in Hokkaido. This new signal station improved traffic management capabilities for the region.
The facility exemplifies Japan's methodical approach to railway management through its dual-purpose design as both a signal control point and staff halt.
The facility operates around the clock to manage train movement. Visitors should note that access to railway grounds may be restricted, so it is wise to follow local regulations.
The facility carries the station code ロホ and combines signal control capabilities with staff halt functions in a single location.
