Herttoniemi Manor, Manor house museum in Helsinki, Finland
Herttoniemi Manor is a neoclassical manor house in Helsinki with two stories furnished with 1800s pieces and details. The grounds feature formal gardens laid out with long rows of linden trees and patterned grass areas.
The property traces its roots to 1540 when Erik Filpusson held the land, but the structure seen today was designed by Pehr Granstedt in 1810. That redesign set the appearance visitors see now and has been maintained through the centuries.
The manor displays the lifestyle of Finnish nobility in the 1800s through period furnishings and exhibitions that reflect upper-class living. Walking through the rooms gives you a sense of how wealthy families used their spaces and decorated their homes.
The manor is located at Linnanrakentajantie 12 and opens to visitors during warmer months, making it an easy destination to reach in summer. Plan your visit for the weekend since opening hours are limited to specific days and times.
The grounds contain a relocated windmill and the Knusbacka farmhouse moved here from a neighboring village, bringing rural history to the property. These structures offer visitors a look at the countryside heritage of the region beyond the main house itself.
